We all have that friend who is always super excited about their birthday, annoys the heck out of you by saying stuff like ‘100 days to my birthday’, ‘ wish me it’s my birthday’..well, I am that person! I have always loved my birthday, the celebration, the love and everything else about it! I feel it’s my special day and I want to celebrate it and myself as much as I can.
I have never really cared about age and still don’t but I did want to do something special to acknowledge the fact that on this birthday not only I will be completing 3 decades on this planet breathing in and out but also celebrate last year which has been super amazing for me personally! I don’t have any tangible proof (no house, no new car, no promotion, no boyfriend, no world trips, etc.) but I do feel it within.
This past new year’s eve, I made a list of things I have wanted to do but never did because of the ‘not good enough’ or ‘not qualified enough’ or ‘not enough time’ belief, and so I listed 12 things; two of them were Yoga Teacher Training and a photo-shoot (the Bollywood buff in me will never die) but I was not sure how to go about it, mostly because I always believed that I am not ‘flexible’ enough to do yoga and I have always struggled with body image issues and I am no model so the thought was who would want to photograph me and will probably brush off my filmy silly idea.
After a day of making my list, I was browsing through facebook and I see this Yoga Teacher Training event near me at K10 Yoga Co-op, I emailed Kristen and she said the class was full, so I decided to let it go… but four days later I get an email saying there is an empty spot and if I would like to join!!! Obviously, I am there!! YTT- check.
During our orientation session, she talked about the studio where we have our training (Jasper&Fern) and Alyson’s vision & mission, and that’s exactly what I had in mind. It was so easy to connect with her and share my ideas. She (and Kirby) worked so hard to create this amazing experience, help me celebrate myself despite all my flaws, insecurities and self-doubt and made it super fun!!
Thank you, everyone, who embrace my craziness, quirkiness, love me, support me and help me celebrate myself no matter what..a special shout out to my family and friends who deal with me every single day! I love you all!
Now I have two things checked off my list and others are on-going.. and in the process, I have met so many amazing people and made so many beautiful new friends! I am so grateful for all the things I am learning, and all the experiences I am having… I can’t thank this universe enough!
