Rumi says,

“I choose to love you in silence, for in silence, I find no rejection.
I choose to love you in loneliness, for in loneliness, no one owns you but me.
I choose to adore you from a distance, for distance will shield me from pain.
I choose to kiss you in the wind, for the wind is gentler than my lips.
I choose to hold you in my dreams, for in my dreams, you have no end.”

Sometimes I wonder, that in the intricate labyrinth of love, there is always a tale of one-sided affection where passion mingles with longing. The pain of loving deeply while knowing those feelings may never find their counterpart is a weight many of us carry, etched into the very fabric of our beings. It’s an ache that accompanies each glance, each unspoken word, each cherished moment that remains unfulfilled. Yet, amid this turmoil, there is growth; it becomes a relentless teacher, urging us to confront the depths of our soul, fostering resilience and self-awareness. It gifts us empathy and a profound understanding of the silent battles others may also be fighting within their hearts. This journey, marked by its agony, also shows us the beauty that lies within unfulfilled desires, a testament to the enduring power of the human spirit and its capacity to create even in the face of unattainable love. I am no Rumi, but I couldn’t stop myself from creating my own version of the poem.

I choose to cherish our memories in the quiet,
For in the quiet, my heart’s secrets lie concealed.

I choose to embrace your essence in the moon’s soft glow,
For the moon keeps my whispered love revealed.

I choose to trace your name in the starlight,
For the stars witness the beauty of our connection.

I choose to weave our story in the fabric of time and space,
For in eternity, there’s no room for disaffection.

I choose to let our love be an untold tale,
For in its mystery, its magic shall remain.

I choose to love you in each breath I take,
For in its depth, there’s no need to explain.

I choose to love you always, that’s just how my heart sways.
